Lacrosse Lady Bobcats fall on the road to Charleston, 17-3

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan women’s lacrosse team lost to the University of Charleston on the road Wednesday evening 17-3. On the night, UC had 29 shots on goal compared to Wesleyan’s four shots on goal.

The Lady Bobcats got on the board first and early as Raveena Navalgund found Kaitlyn Canby in the middle and Canby converted. The Golden Eagles answered heavily, scoring eight-straight goals to take an 8-1 lead after one quarter of play.

In the second,, Charleston scored two more goals until Navalgund scored a goal with Reese Hutson getting the assist to make it 10-2. Just a couple minutes later, Navalgund found the back of the net again. UC was able to add two goals before the half ended, leading 12-3 at the break.

Charleston displayed sturdy defense for the remainder of the game, not allowing a single shot and forcing seven turnovers in the third and five in the fourth. The Golden Eagles added two goals in both the third and fourth quarter, leaving with a 17-3 win over WVWC.

Madison Partridge led Charleston with four goals while Destiny Jackson and Antonia Martinez added three goals each. Gianni Blundell had five assists as well.

Navalgund had two goals for the Lady Bobcats to lead the team and Canby had one goal. Gabriella Gomez recorded 12 saves.
