Buckhannon-Upshur area students entering grades nine through 12 who are interested in performance or technical theatre are invited to a Thespian interest session Sunday, Aug. 16, at the Colonial Arts Center in Buckhannon.
The session will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the center’s upstairs Black Box Theater at 48 E. Main St. It will introduce students to the Educational Theatre Association, the West Virginia Thespian Society and VTC Thespian Troupe 12610.
The troupe gives students opportunities to develop their performance and technical theatre skills with professional mentors. Members can develop projects for adjudication at multiple levels, connect with theatre professionals and educators and explore college and scholarship opportunities in the performing arts.
Each student who attends the session will receive a free ticket to the Rustic Mechanicals’ performance of The Taming of the Shrew at 7 p.m. that evening at the Colonial Arts Center.
Buckhannon Community Theatre, the Vintage Theatre Company and the Rustic Mechanicals are hosting the session.
Students who are interested but unable to attend may email their name, email address, incoming grade and general area of theatre interest to buckhannonct@gmail.com before Aug. 16.
