JV Lady Bucs return to action, fall to Braxton County, 22-19

TENNERTON – Coming off a weeklong quarantine, the Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Lady Bucs were back in action Saturday evening at home against the Braxton County Eagles.

The game was limited to just two quarters in which the JV Lady Bucs dropped a 22-19 decision.

The loss ended a three-game winning streak for the junior varsity Lady Bucs.

The JV Lady Bucs took a 12-7 lead after the first quarter with Reginia Petrokovich putting in seven points, Brooklyn Smith hitting a three-pointer and Olivia Shipley knocking down a jumper.

The JV Lady Bucs couldn’t hold that lead in the second quarter, losing it by a 15-7 margin.

Shipley had three points and NineMae Coberly and Rosie Shackleford each put in two for the JV Lady Bucs in that second quarter.

Petrokovich led the JV Lady Bucs with seven points while Shipley contributed five.

The defeat left the JV Lady Bucs with a 3-7 record heading into Tuesday’s home game with Bridgeport.

That game will tip at 5:45 p.m.
