Jane “Elizabeth” Torres

Jane “Elizabeth” Torres, 99, of Buckhannon and previously of Pennsylvania, slipped gently into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, March 14, 2021. She passed in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loving family, and under the compassionate care of WV Hospice.

She was born in Cheltenham, Pa., on September 12, 1921, the only child of the late Raymond and Maude Krewson Benner. In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Ramón Torres; and two daughters: Yolanda Torres, and Terry Torres.

Forever cherishing their memories of Elizabeth are two children: Natalie McInroy and husband, Joseph, of Buckhannon, WV, and Raymond Torres and wife, Eileen, of Philadelphia, PA; four grandchildren: Yoel Solis, Richard Valdez, Jennifer McInroy, and Tracy Carter; and five great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth graduated from Cheltenham High School and received a music scholarship to Oberlin College in Ohio. She finished her Bachelor Degree in Language at Beaver College in Philadelphia, Pa. Elizabeth then worked as a teacher of Latin, French, and Spanish languages for many years. In addition to the language arts, Elizabeth had a strong interest in history, literature, ballet, Opera, and poetry. She also loved reading, working crossword puzzles and cooking for her friends and family.

We, at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon, are honored and privileged to serve the family of Jane Elizabeth Torres. Online condolences may be expressed at www.ClutterFuneralHome.com.
