Ira “Milford” Reger

Ira “Milford” Reger, age 83, of Buckhannon, WV, died Wednesday, August 24, 2023, at the WV Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg, WV. 

He was born August 4, 1940, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Kyle M. and Gladys Fern Light Reger. 

He is survived by two sons, Michael Joseph Reger and wife Lana of Flemington, WV and Christopher Allen Reger of Buckhannon; one brother, David Reger and wife Beverly of Buckhannon; three sisters, Sharon Gump of Barrackville, WV, Luretta Rhinehart of Charleston, WV, and Martha Bonner and husband Danny of Pittsburg, PA. and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Van E Reger.

He was a graduate of Buckhannon Upshur High School, Class of 1959.  As a young man he was a member of the FFA and 4-H in Upshur County.  He raised Sheep and Cattle during his time in FFA.  He farmed in early adulthood as well and was considered an expert gardener. Milford’s love of the outdoors continued throughout his life. He was an avid hunter who looked forward to deer and squirrel season every year. 

He loved baking cakes, pies, and cheesecake for friends and family.  He was a proud member of the Upshur County Historical Society and had a strong interest in the history of his family, community and state. Mr. Reger proudly served in the U. S. Army.  He was a long-time employee of Kyle M. Reger Lumber Company of Buckhannon and Reger’s Servicestar.

The family extends their sincere appreciation to the WV Veterans Nursing Facility and all those who reached out to show care, concern, and love for our father.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 4 to 8 PM at the Poling St-Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home with Dr. Rob Kauffelt officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard will perform military honors at graveside.
