Indoor track and field ‘Cats have good showing at Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams competed at Youngstown State University on Friday in the YSU College Invitational. The teams saw both Division I and Atlantic Regional competition.

How The Men Finished
Sterlin Thropp finished 25th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.83 while teammate Jose Filion crossed the line at 56.04.

Cole Bracken placed 23rd in the 800-meter run, running 2:00.93. Jacob Angelo finished at 2:13.91 and Damon Martin ran a 2:14.94 in the event.

Anthony Sanders finished 11th in the in the 3000-meter run with a new personal-record (PR) a time 8:43.71. Cayden Robinson ran a 9:03.35, good enough for 22nd and Ashton Nardella finished with a time of 10:04.36.

Evan Pyles was 15th in the 5000-meter run, crossing the line at 15:56.81.

How The Women Finished
Ny’Tierra Hobbs had another strong day, finishing 11th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.80 (PR) and 12th in the 200-meter dash at 25.79. Samantha Cash finished the 200-meter dash at 27.05.

Marimo Akita placed 25th in the 400-meter dash, running a time of 62.15. Aubrey Wiethe ran a 65.67 and Hayley Wiley crossed the line at 69.95.

Leigha Hall finished 17th in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:41.02 (PR).

Samantha Cash continues to impress as well, breaking her own school record once again in the Triple Jump at 11.52m, taking 6th in the event. She also finished 3rd in the High Jump at 1.60m and 14th in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.56.

Brady Browning finished 8th in the Pole Vault at 2.75m to close out the day for the women.

Jacqualin Leaman threw a person-best 10.76m in the Weight Throw
Elizabeth Kittle broke two PRs, throwing 9.55 in the Shot Put and 9.77m in the Weight Throw
Roman Moore with a throw of 11.69m (PR)

Where They Go Next
The Bobcats will head back to Youngstown for the YSU College Mid Major Invitation next weekend.
