Stanley Eugene Wilt

Stanley Eugene Wilt, 68, of French Creek, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in the comfort of his home.

Stanley was born in Clarksburg on December 8, 1957, a son of the late Elwood Stanley Wilt and Katherine Louise Murray Wilt. In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Wilt.

Forever cherishing their memories of Stanley are his two children: Stanley E. Wilt II and wife, Kristen, of Buckhannon, and Meghan Beavers and husband, Joseph, of Waynesboro, TN; three grandchildren: Seth Beavers, Wesley Beavers, and Brant Mills; one sister, Jeanie Bord; one niece, Nichole Heflin; and one nephew, Aaron Wilt.

Stanley was a proud alumnus of Buckhannon-Upshur High School, where his love for music started, and he was a proud member of the marching band that won the Bands of America National Honor Band Title, Class of 1976.

His commitment to service was evident in his long and distinguished career at the West Virginia Department of Highways, from which he retired after years of dedicated service.

Outside of his professional life, Stanley had a passion for collecting antiques. He spent many weekends scouring local markets and estate sales, always on the hunt for a unique piece to add to his collection. Stanley was an avid supporter of WVU sports and could often be found in the stands cheering on his favorite teams.

He had many memorable moments spent at concerts, feeling the rhythm of the music and the joy of the crowd. Stanley also had a love for making wine, a hobby that brought joy to both himself and those lucky enough to sample his creations.

Beyond his personal interests, Stanley’s greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren. Their laughter filled his home, and their love filled his heart. Stanley was a man who lived his life to the fullest, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.

Stanley wished to be cremated, with his ashes being spread at his beloved camp, where he spent countless weekends. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

We at Clutter Funeral and Cremation, located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon, are honored and privileged to serve the family of Stanley Eugene Wilt. Online condolences may be expressed at www.ClutterFuneralHome.com.
