ELKINS, WV — HomeOwnership Center, Inc. (HOC) will be hosting an open house event called From Renter to Homeowner: Navigating the 2023 Housing Market on Saturday, March 11. Folks hoping to buy a home this year or who are interested in learning about the homebuying process for the future are encouraged to attend this event.

The event will be open to the public between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at HOC’s office located at 2276 Randolph Avenue in Elkins (in front of the Randolph County Housing Authority’s building).

With the recent challenges many prospective homebuyers are facing with the current housing market, this event will educate attendees on how to be a smart buyer, what loan options are available, the benefits of pre-purchase counseling and more.

HOC staff will give presentations on the organization’s loan products, services and other important details about the housing market at 11 a.m. with the same information being provided at 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.

This free event will highlight the opportunities that are available to reach home ownership in a challenging market and to educate folks on the homebuying process even if purchasing a home isn’t in the cards this year.

“We want folks to leave this event with the confidence that home ownership is still attainable when you find the right lender and loan option that works best for your budget in the current housing climate,” explained Kate Somers, HOC’s executive director. “HOC has been assisting folks with home ownership and financial security for the last 25 years, and we will continue to help create and support homebuyers in North Central West Virginia by offering loan options and services to all income levels. After all this time, we really are experts in this area, and we hope all who are interested in purchasing a home will come listen to how we can help them reach their dream.”

Several local realtors will also be in attendance to speak with folks and answer questions about the local housing market.

Light refreshments will be available as well as a chance to enter in a giveaway to win a $100 Visa gift card. More details on the event and giveaway can be found on HomeOwnership Center, Inc.’s Facebook page.

HOC is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary by spotlighting its loan options, services, partnerships and community impact on social media. You can keep up to date with HOC on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Tiktok!
