Helga A. Riffle, age 89, of French Creek, died Saturday, May 30, 2026, at WV Caring Hospice House in Elkins, WV. She was born on June 19, 1936, in Schwienfurt, Germany, a daughter of the late Ernst and Emma Lutz Goetter.
On January 24, 1964, she was united in marriage to James Robert Riffle, who preceded her in death on January 12, 2025. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Werner Goetter; a half-brother, Udo Goetter; three brothers-in-law, Roger W. Riffle, Kenneth E. Riffle, and Gerald A. Riffle; and one sister-in-law, Sharon L. Riffle.
She is survived by a daughter, Petra Riffle of French Creek, WV; a sister, Renate, and husband Peter Radl of Germany; two brothers-in-law, Ralph J. Riffle and wife Roxanne and Thomas E. Riffle and wife Barbara, both of Buckhannon; four sisters-in-law, Martha Ann Ours and husband Dave of Buckhannon, Helen Jane Simons and husband William of Roanoke, WV, Margaret Riffle of North Canton, OH, and Judy Riffle of Theodore, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Riffle enjoyed crossword puzzles.
The body will be cremated and private inurnment will be made at the Kanawha Run Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences may be extended to the Riffle family at www.heavnerandcutright.com.
