Harvey Webster “Sonny” Elmore

Harvey Webster “Sonny” Elmore, age 82, of Grafton, WV, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Rosewood in Grafton after a brief illness.

Harvey was born March 10, 1941, in Kanawha, WV to James and Zelpha Munday Elmore. He worked for House Movers, Inc., on farms and as a carpenter. Harvey helped his mother-in-law, Helen Harmon in her junk yard. He lived in Jackson, Ripley, WV, Roane and Spencer, WV. He loved gardening, planting flowers, crafting, building things, painting, drawing and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He was a Baptist by faith and loved talking about God and going to church when he could go.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Ruth (Harmon) Elmore of Ripley; one daughter, Sarah (Scottie) Tenney of Buckhannon, WV; one son, Paul Elmore of Buckhannon; five grandchildren, Anna (Steven) Freeze of Fairmont, WV, Sarah (Seth) Ridley, Zelphia (DJ) Harper all of Buckhannon, Raymond Johnson of Fairmont and Wesley Robertson of Grafton, WV; great grandchildren, Lucas and Shyann Freeze, Lennox, Lexington and Lainey Johnson, Laken and Landon Cross all of Fairmont, Airihanna and Matthew Tinney, Serenity and Emma Ridley, Opie and LeeLynn Harper and Dominic Riffle all of Buckhannon; one step granddaughter, Celita (Anthony) Riffle of Buckhannon; one brother, Clyde (Karen) Gibson of LeRoy, WV and his belove dog, Katie.

Waiting on Harvey on God’s beautiful shore will be his mom, Zelpha Munday and father James Elmore, brothers, Calvin Gibson and James Elmore, Jr., sister, Cora Myers, niece, Brittany Gibson and mother-in-law, Helen Harmon.

Friends will be received Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 11 AM unto 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
