Flame Detailing opens in Buckhannon just in time for winter salt season

Flame Detailing is officially open in Buckhannon, with owners Shane Jenkins and Blake Rasnake celebrating with a ribbon cutting Friday. The shop offers everything from quick hand washes to full details with ceramic coating to help protect vehicles this winter.

Just as winter salt season hits full swing, a new Buckhannon business is ready to help locals keep their vehicles clean, protected and looking sharp.

Flame Detailing hosted a ribbon-cutting on Friday to welcome community members to the new business. Co-owners Shane Jenkins and Blake Rasnake have been busy since opening their doors earlier this month.

“This is our official, ‘Hey, we’re open, we’re fully ready to go, fully ready to detail,’” Jenkins said. “We have gift cards and coupons right now, so we are ready to go, and we’re excited.”

Rasnake has worked as a detailer for some time, but he became so busy with clients that he realized he needed to open his own shop.

“I’ve been detailing for eight years now. I started in Charleston, and then I kept doing it on the side up here, and it just got to the point where I was getting too many people to where I couldn’t handle doing it on the side by myself,” Rasnake said. “We started talking about it, and we decided we were going to give it a shot, and it’s turning out well so far.”

The shop is located at 203 Zicks Rd., Buckhannon, WV 26201. They do not have set hours; work is done by appointment only, but customers can stop by to book an appointment.

“They can also call us at 681-276-5769, or they can book online. Our availability is listed online, and it has been booking up pretty quickly,” Jenkins said. “I would tell anyone who is interested to get online and look at our appointments or to call us, and we can help get them situated.”

The name Flame Detailing is more than just a fancy moniker — Jenkins is also a paid firefighter with the City of Buckhannon. Some of their services include a full detail, exterior detail, interior detail, maintenance plan, quick wash, and a variety of service enhancements, such as sticker removal, odor neutralizer, headlight restore, ceramic reboot and paint correction.

“Our full details are popular. We do a one-year ceramic coating on every full detail or exterior detail that comes in. That’s complimentary — nobody pays extra for it,” Jenkins said. “We have a higher service with a better three-to-five-year ceramic that we can put on for a little bit more. It’s a separate package, and I would definitely recommend that. However, the full detail has definitely been our most popular, especially this time of the year.”

Jenkins also highlighted their hand wash service for people who want a quick cleaning.

“We offer a hand wash service, and that’s so they can just come in, get lunch really quick or something like that — it’s a quick and easy thing,” Jenkins said. “We’ll wash the vehicle by hand with a quality product and make sure we don’t leave any swirl marks or anything; just get their vehicle clean on the outside again and send them on their way.”

Flame Detailing also offers a pickup and drop-off service for an additional fee, where an employee will pick up and return a vehicle so the customer does not have to find another mode of transportation.

“If someone is going to work, we can come to your workplace, pick up your vehicle, come here, detail it, and then when you go off work in the evening, you get a clean car sitting out waiting on you,” Jenkins said. “That’s another thing we tried to focus on: convenience for our customers. I’ve been a detailing customer for a long time, and it was always an inconvenience to try to schedule when somebody else had to pick me up.”

Rasnake also recommended their interior ceramic coating service to help maintain a vehicle’s interior, especially for families with pets and children.

“You can put it on your leather, you can put it on your carpets, to protect against stains and spills. It prolongs your interior life as well — it protects against the sun and everything,” Rasnake said. “If you have kids and animals, it’s great for that. You just take a little bit of water and a rag and wipe it, and it cleans up really easily, so that’s definitely something I’m excited to see.”
