MORGANTOWN — The West Virginia University Funk and Soul Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, in the Gluck Theater at the WVU Mountainlair.

The performance will feature music spanning decades, with hits made famous by artists such as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Bruno Mars, Earth, Wind & Fire, Prince and more.
“We’ve put together a show that’s fun, uplifting, and packed with music people know and love,” said Director Joshua Swiger. “Whether you grew up with these songs or are hearing them for the first time, there’s something here for everyone.”
The concert invites families, friends and music lovers from across the community to attend.
The WVU Funk and Soul Ensemble is a performance group dedicated to bringing the spirit of funk and soul music to life. Through rehearsals and live concerts, students immerse themselves in the essential elements of these styles, including groove, rhythmic precision, stylistic authenticity and ensemble collaboration.
The group explores music from pioneering legends to today’s chart-topping artists, equipping students with both a deep appreciation of the genre and hands-on performance experience.
