Fairmont State wind ensemble to present Composers of America concert

The Fairmont State University Department of Music is excited to announce, “Composers of America” presented by the Fairmont State Wind Ensemble. The concert will be performed in the Wallman Hall Auditorium on the campus of Fairmont State on Wednesday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.

Under the direction of Greg Mulzet, the Fairmont State Wind Ensemble will perform a diverse collection of American composers. This concert will feature works by David Maslanka, Alan Hovhaness, John Mackey, Aaron Copland, Alfred Reed, and John Philip Sousa.

This family-friendly yet challenging program will provide community members the opportunity to hear some of their favorite American composers while perhaps being introduced to new works. While the majority of the collection will include 20th century composers, works from composer John Philip Sousa, who is known for his remarkable, rhythmic, instrumental, American military marches, will be included.

The event is free and open to the public. No reservation is required.
