Ellen Marie McClain

Ellen Marie McClain, age 79, of Big Run Road in Volga, WV, took up her residency in her new home in heaven on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV, after having fought her battle with several medical illnesses over the past several months.  

She was born on December 5, 1942, in Barbour County, WV., a daughter of the late Gaylord and Russie Jane Humphrey Ware.  On January 1, 1966, she was united in marriage to Jim McClain who preceded her in death. 

She is survived by her companion of 32 years, Earl Queen of Volga, WV; two sisters: Evelyn Lemasters of Fairmont, WV Brenda Hoover and husband Mitch of Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. 

In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by her stepfather Dana Lantz:  two sons; Infant Oscar Ireland, and Kevin Beckner, two daughters; Misty McClain, and infant Jamie McClain, one brother-in-law William Burton “Butch” Lemasters and brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Fay Lewis Ware, stepsister Kathy Lantz Haid.

Ellen enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, quilting, flower gardening and karaoke.  Her words to you today would be:  For I have run my earthly race.  I now reside in a beautiful place where no sorrow, pain or grief exist.

Per Ellen’s wishes, she will be cremated.  A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
