Dr. Jerry Nelson Black, 75, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Monday, June 24, 2019 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

He was born August 21, 1943 in Buckhannon, a son of the late Denver and Dema B. Shipman Black.

On October 3, 2001 he married April Heine, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Lee Black and wife Tiffany of San Francisco, Calif.; one daughter, Diana Black of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Victoria Black of San Francisco; one grandson, Brandon Black of San Francisco; and all the staff at the Buckhannon Eye Center who were more like family than employees and coworkers.

Dr. Black was an Ophthalmologist and a member of the American Art Glass Museum in Weston, W.Va. He thought it was a great joy to serve the community and the surrounding areas.

A private family graveside service will be held.
