Doris Sayre, age 90, of Buckhannon, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Stonehaven Home in Belington, WV.
She was born February 8, 1936, a daughter of the late John and Leota Armstrong. She married Arnold Sayre on December 19, 1970, and he passed away on October 22, 2025.
Surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Tolliver and Della Humphrey, both of Buckhannon; three nieces; four great-nieces; one great-great-niece; and two great-nephews. Also surviving is one brother-in-law, Ralph Sayre and wife, Hilda, of Buckhannon.
She was preceded in death by one brother, John Armstrong Jr. and wife, Shirley, of Southington, OH, and one niece and one nephew.
Doris attended West Virginia Wesleyan College for two years. She was a secretary to the vice president of WVWC for nine years and secretary to the administrator of St. Joseph’s Hospital for 20 years, and retired as director of purchasing after almost 10 years.
In honoring Mrs. Sayre’s wishes, she will be cremated.
