BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — The Upshur County Development Authority (the local EDA), in partnership with the Upshur County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Small Business Development Center, West Virginia Wesleyan College and Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce, will host a Business Connections Networking Event on September 1, 2026.
This event, scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at West Virginia Wesleyan College, is free to attend. It offers local business owners, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, nonprofits, community leaders, students, emerging professionals and local government representatives a chance to connect and collaborate.
Upshur County Development Authority Director Brandon Tenney said, “We’re excited to bring this networking event back because meaningful connections are the foundation of a strong local economy. By bringing together business leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, and community partners, we’re creating opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and long-term growth across Upshur County and the surrounding region.”
Attendees can expect updates on economic development initiatives, opportunities to discover business resources, explore connection boards and gain insights into partnerships that support business growth and long-term success.
In addition to business networking, this event will also serve as a valuable space for students and emerging professionals to explore internship opportunities, mentorship connections and career pathways with local employers. Businesses seeking new talent will have a chance to meet prospective interns and future workforce leaders, strengthening Upshur County’s pipeline of skilled professionals.
