DHHR celebrates West Virginia Recovery Month

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR), Office of Drug Control Policy is joining partners nationwide in recognizing National Recovery Month.

Gov. Jim Justice has also proclaimed September as West Virginia Recovery Month to emphasize that everyone has a role in supporting recovery.

“Addiction is treatable and recovery is possible. It’s up to us to spread that hope to our communities this month,” said Rachel Thaxton, Interim Director of DHHR’s Office of Drug Control Policy. “By sharing information about substance use disorder and celebrating recovery together, our state can build resiliency.”

West Virginians are encouraged to participate in spreading awareness through social media using the hashtag #RecoveryMonthWV and following Healthy Connections on social media for more information on events and resources. Residents can also support efforts toward recovery by sharing resources including 844-HELP4WV (844-435-7498).
