After two rounds at Glade Springs, University of Charleston women lead by 27 strokes and Glenville State men sit two shots ahead of Charleston entering the final round of the MEC Golf Championships.

DANIELS, W.Va. – The University of Charleston women and Glenville State men are atop the leaderboard after two rounds of the 2025 Mountain East Conference Golf Championships.

The UC women took command of the team standings during Tuesday morning’s second round on the Cobb Course at the Resort at Glade Springs, pulling ahead of second-place Glenville State by 27 shots. On the men’s side, the Pioneers catapulted to the top of the leaderboard and lead UC entering Wednesday’s final round.

The three-day, three-round event continues Wednesday morning with both the men’s and women’s players tentatively scheduled to tee off at 9:20 a.m. Upon conclusion of Tuesday’s play, the top six teams advanced to the final round, as well as the top three individual scorers who are not on an advancing team. The 54-hole event is scheduled to conclude Wednesday, and a team champion and individual medalist will be crowned. The top five finishers on each side will be named to the all-tournament team.

WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT

A trio of Charleston women’s golfers — Mari Filippa Larsen, Gabrielle Harrison, and Lucia Martin — top the MEC Golf Championship leaderboard after two rounds of competition. Larsen pulled away from the pack with a +1 73 on Tuesday morning, with 15 pars, two birdies and a bogey. She leads teammates Harrison and Martin by six strokes entering the final round.

Martin also had an impressive round Tuesday morning, matching Larsen’s +1 73. Martin improved her opening round score by 10 strokes, with four bogeys and three birdies. She had three consecutive birdies on the back nine — Nos. 13, 14, and 15.

As a team, the Golden Eagles enter the final round at +51. Glenville State, the defending women’s team champion, is +78. Four other schools made the cut for Wednesday’s final round: Fairmont State (+165), Concord (+203), Davis & Elkins (+204), and Wheeling (+254).

MEN’S TOURNAMENT

Point Park freshman Milo Thim is the only MEC men’s golfer under par after two rounds. After posting a 2-under 70 on Monday, Thim played the second round at one-over-par, shooting at 73. Sanchez and Perez Santandrea were two of four golfers who played Tuesday’s second round under par. Sanchez shot a 1-under 71, while Perez Santandrea fired a tournament-best score of 68 — 4 under par.

Thim sprinkled a trio of birdies among four bogeys on Tuesday to take his place atop the leaderboard entering the final 18 holes. Sanchez rose three spots on the leaderboard thanks to four birdies and three bogeys. Perez Santandrea surged 11 spots after making the turn at 2-over-par, and then reeling off six birdies in his final nine holes, including three consecutive birdies to conclude the round.
