Darrell R. Bonner

Darrell R. Bonner, 86, of Buckhannon, WV, entered into eternal life on Monday, January 24, 2022, at the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center in Elkins, WV. 

He was born September 24, 1935, in Upshur County, WV, a son of the late Charles Morgan and Lola Dove Wilfong Bonner.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lola Jane Bonner Norman and Janice Mae Bonner Campbell; one brother, Dorris Junior Bonner and one grandson, Elijah Bonner.

He is survived by his wife, Terecia Marie Bailey Bonner, whom he married on January 21, 1955; one brother, William C. Bonner and wife Steffie; one sister Helen Jean Bonner Mullens; two sons, Darrell “Randy” Bonner and wife Leisa, and Douglas M. Bonner and husband Sam Vaughan; one daughter, Barbara M. Bonner Murray and husband Stephen Jack Murray; three grandsons, Nathan Bonner and wife Reese, Daniel Bonner and Michael Bonner and wife, Britni; four granddaughters, Ashley Bonner Yoder and husband Tim, Morgan Murray Hanson and husband Mitchell, Kristen Bonner and Kara Bonner; five great grandchildren, Declan and Luca Yoder, AnnaBelle and Sloan Bonner and Madelyn Hanson and four step-great grandchildren, Daniel, Jace, Isabelle and Xavier.

Mr. Bonner served in the U.S. Army, worked for the FBI, Firestone, was manager of Gould National Battery and retired from Peoples Life Insurance Company with 32 years of service. He loved hunting, fishing and woodworking having built many pieces of furniture, cabinets, etc. Mr. Bonner was an avid golfer having won first place in many tournaments. He was the former Pastor of the Gould Christian Church and was a member of the Tallmansville Baptist Church and the South Buckhannon Mission Church.

Friends will be received Saturday, January 29, 2022, from 4 to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Lewis and Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the Bailey Cemetery in Buckhannon. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside.
