An Ohio man wanted in the death of his wife was arrested during a traffic stop on Interstate 68 in Monongalia County on Wednesday, May 13, according to a press release from the West Virginia State Police.
Senior Trooper I. L. Bowman and Trooper E. L. Bowman were notified by the U.S. Marshal’s Service that a fugitive from justice was in the central West Virginia area, the release said. A short time later, troopers arrested Robert A. Ross, 50, of Canton, Ohio, during a traffic stop on the interstate.
Ross had an active murder warrant out of the state of Ohio, according to the release.
The warrant stems from the death of Ross’s wife, Ashley Ross, who was found dead in their Alliance, Ohio, home on Wednesday morning, Cleveland TV station WKYC reported.
The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force joined Alliance police in the search and tracked Ross to West Virginia, where the task force coordinated with local authorities to locate the vehicle Ross was believed to be driving and conduct the traffic stop, according to WKYC.
Ross is being detained at North Central Regional Jail awaiting an extradition hearing.
