City of Buckhannon calendar for the week of June 2, 2025

Buckhannon city officials have announced this week’s schedule of public meetings, recycling pickups, summer events such as Festival Fridays, upcoming bid opportunities, utility bill information, and a proposed zoning amendment for resident consideration.

Recycling and Yard Waste

  • Tuesday, June 3, 2025 – Curbside recycling pick up begins at 6:00 am within city limits. Information: buckhannonwv.org/residents/recycling/
  • Yard Waste Pickup Friday, June 6, 2025 – Available to city residents first and third Friday of the month December through August and every Friday September through November. Residents must contact City Hall to be added to the list or may drop bagged waste at the Recycling Center free of charge.

Community Events

  • Festival Fridays in Jawbone Park – Create Buckhannon premieres its summer season this week with Red Sky Down playing oldies and classic rock. This free family-friendly event features live music, local food vendors, fresh produce, and artisans. Children’s activities and entertainment for all ages make it the perfect way to celebrate summer in Buckhannon.
  • Almost Heaven BBQ Bash – Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Almost Heaven BBQ Bash June 12–14 in and around Jawbone Park downtown. Top KCBS teams will compete with chicken ribs, pork, and brisket for judging. The weekend also features artists, crafters, live entertainment, and family activities. Details: almostheavenbbqbash.com
