Chick-fil-A truck to roll into Buckhannon beginning next week

BUCKHANNON – Buckhannon may not have a permanent Chick-fil-A, but a Chick-fil-A food truck will start visiting next week.

The Chick-fil-A Meadowbrook Food Truck will start visiting Buckhannon on Tuesdays and Saturdays at the Aaron’s parking lot, 39 Clarksburg Road, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Ryan Rutt, operator of the Meadowbrook Mall Chick-fil-A, said this schedule is subject to change and interested customers should follow the Chick-fil-A Meadowbrook Food Truck Facebook and Instagram pages for updates.

“We’ll be serving a limited menu,” Rutt explained. “We have a Chick-fil-A food truck and we actually cook everything on board, so we’ll be doing regular sandwiches, spicy sandwiches, nuggets, waffle potato fries, brownies, cookies, and then even some bottled beverages like our sweet tea which people love, our lemonade, which people love and variety of canned sodas as well.”

He said the truck will most likely keep returning for the next month or two, but nothing is set in stone yet.

“Chick-fil-A is very aware the market is moving towards what I would call convenience, where people want something and don’t necessarily want to drive too far for it, so this is a good way to reach an unreached group or places that don’t have Chick-fil-A,” Rutt said. “We can take it where we want to go – to these communities where maybe we don’t have a Chick-fil-A right now, but we can at least bring it to them temporarily, so they don’t have to drive 45 minutes for a sandwich. They can just drive across town to get a sandwich.”

“They’re trying to see the viability of them, and quite honestly, it’s still a bit like a test, but I’d say it’s about bringing Chick-fil-A to where people want it and seeing how it works out,” Rutt added.

City of Buckhannon information coordinator and city recorder Randy Sanders said he was excited to hear the truck was coming to Buckhannon and confirmed the truck had secured a business license to operate in the City of Buckhannon.

“I was thrilled to see that I’m glad they put us on their radar, and they’ve done their due diligence – they have their license and everything, so I think it’s great,” Sanders said. “I don’t know who doesn’t like Chick-fil-A. I’m sure there are some, but I think Chick-fil-A has a good following, and I think it gives Buckhannon another option. We have fabulous restaurants and I want to support all of our local restaurants, but I think even those that own the local restaurants aren’t opposed to adding a little variety.”
