Carol Arlene Daugherty Skidmore

Carol Arlene Daugherty Skidmore, 76, of Jane Lew, W.Va. died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

She was born Oct. 31, 1942 in Marietta, Ohio, the daughter of Arden Fred and Mary Marie Dodd Daugherty.

On Feb. 17, 1975 she married Gary Skidmore, who preceded her in death on March 15, 2011.

She is survived by her son Arden Skidmore of Lost Creek, W.Va. and her grandson, Levi Blake Skidmore of Lost Creek.

Mrs. Skidmore started her beautician career at Rose’s Beauty Shop, then she worked at Simmon’s Beauty Salon before she became the owner and operator of Carol Daugherty’s Salon. She loved to garden, sew, camp travel, collect cardinals and Fenton Art Glass.

Mrs. Skidmore was involved with the Boy Scout Troop 72 for many years and also made the hotdog chili for the Jubilee.

Friends will be received Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. The funeral will be held 10 a.m.Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Jane Lew.
