BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — The Buckhannon-Upshur High School Class of 1996 collected donations for flood relief at its 30-year reunion August 1, and an anonymous business matched every dollar given, up to $5,000.
Classmates could direct their donations to any organization that supported flood efforts, and donations of supplies counted toward the goal, said Teresa Wilson VanAlsburg, who shared the results of the drive with My Buckhannon. The match funds from the business were donated to the Upshur Parish House.
Daniel Marsh, owner of The Sign Guy and a member of the Class of 1996, printed the oversized check the class posed with at the reunion.
