WVU Potomac State College is honoring alum Lois Elizabeth Miltenberger, whose estate gift of about $1 million will create lasting support for students and strengthen agriculture and forestry programs.

Ritchie Street in Buckhannon will have a one-lane closure starting Thursday, Feb. 26, as a Mountaineer Gas subcontractor begins infrastructure work. The closure runs from Fayette Street to Tucker Street for about two weeks.

Buckhannon’s latest buzz includes Easter meal signups at the Upshur Parish House, property tax deadlines, a farmers market meeting and more.

Students at the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind are gaining real-world culinary and business skills by running the new Appalachia Provisions Café in Romney. The CTE Simulated Workplace serves coffee, tea, pastries and sandwiches to the school and community.

Morehead State University’s SpaceTrek, partnered with TMC Technologies, is launching its second year and moving to West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon. The residential space systems program for young women will run July 12–25, 2026, backed by a $3.98 million ARC ARISE grant.

Several Buckhannon-Upshur High School students will compete at the regional Social Studies Fair in April.
