Trash cans (toters) need to be concealed — after your scheduled pick-up, customers need to retrieve their trash container from along the curb and return it to a location that is more pleasing to the appearance of your neighborhood. Having trash containers out for more than 24 hours violates a city ordinance.
Notice of cemetery annual spring clean-up from March 24 through March 28, 2025 — the City of Buckhannon will perform the annual spring clean-up of the cemeteries (Buckhannon Memorial Park, Old Heavner, Second Addition, Veterans and Old Baptist) beginning March 24 and continuing through March 28. All items must be removed before the scheduled clean-up. Any items left will be disposed of during the cemetery clean-up. If you have any questions, call 304-472-1651 or 304-472-5755 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Free residential paper shredding event, April 26, 2025 — the Upshur County Solid Waste Authority is sponsoring a free paper shredding event (residential only) on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 9 a.m. to noon at 395 Mud Lick Rd, Buckhannon (across from the Transfer Station). Pay utility bills online or by phone — to make an online payment for your utility bill, click here: https://www.municipalonlinepayments.com/buckhannonwv. To pay over the phone, call 1-866-933-4026. Even if you do not wish to pay your bill using this method you may still set up an account, which will allow you to monitor your consumption. To sign up for this service, complete the online registration, which requires your Utility Board account number (printed on your bill) and the last amount you paid. Once your account has been established, log in with your registered email and password.
Reporting a necessary repair or registering a concern with the city — to report a necessary repair such as potholes, damaged street signs or an issue in a city park, or any other matter that a city department should address, call City Hall during regular business hours and ask to submit a work order request or report your concerns through our citizens engagement tool: https://buckhannonwv.portal.iworq.net/BUCKHANNON/new-request/700/3444. This will speed up the reaction time to a matter that needs immediate attention.
