Buckhannon American Legion distributes food to local veterans

BUCKHANNON — On Saturday, June 10, the American Legion, in collaboration with the Brooks Hill Pickin’ on the Hill festival, Lowe’s and the Upshur Senior Center, held a veterans food distribution event in the parking lot of the Upshur Senior Center. We want to thank Tracie Thompson and her Senior Center staff, as well as Lowes, for supporting this worthwhile event.

But none of this would have even been possible were it not for Jim and Bonnie Crouse, who decided this year’s Bluegrass Festival would support our local veterans in need. With them and the support of those who attended and contributed to the food collection, we helped Veterans and Surviving Spouses who needed a hand. During distribution, eligibility was validated to ensure it went to the people the food was collected for.
