Upshur County Democratic Women are announcing a donation to Upshur County Public Library.
The donation of $350 will be used to grow the library’s young adult nonfiction collection. The donation was funded mostly through the 3rd Annual Upshur County Democratic Women’s Craft Swap held October 18, 2025. That event raised $332 and the group added an additional $18 to make an even sum of $350.
“The Upshur County Democratic Women are happy we can provide a donation to Upshur County Public Library to help in the development of their collection,” said Holly Tunning Canfield, current Upshur County Democratic Women president, along with Anne Chopyak, outgoing Upshur County Democratic Women president.
Paul Norko, Upshur County Public Library director, commented, “The support of the Democratic Women’s Club of Upshur County for our book purchasing has been greatly appreciated by the Upshur County Public Library over the past three years. This year’s support focused on nonfiction for teenagers, which is a critical area of development as it enabled us to update and fill in many gaps in the collection. Prior years have focused on easy/picture books and juvenile fiction.”
