Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital has selected Laboratory employee, Brittany Shuttleworth, as the May ICARE Employee of the Month. She is the Lab Point-of-Care Coordinator and has been employed at SJMH since 2015.

Her nominator wrote, “Brittany does what is right. She is responsible for the quality of the clinic labs and does not back down when it comes to quality. She expects the best for our patients and holds others accountable when needed. She is always kind and smiling. She displays respect for everyone she encounters. She is always willing to lend a helping hand. For example, she will assist an elderly patient back to their car. She volunteers to stay over or come in early to help her co-workers.”

Brittany is a Harrison County native and graduate of Robert C. Byrd High School. She received her Medical Laboratory Technician degree from Pierpont Technical School in Fairmont. Her parents were the late Michael and Debbie Shuttleworth of Harrison County. She has one brother, Michael. She and her fiancé, Glenn Barnosky, have a Great Dane, six-year-old Diesel.

Laboratory Director, Angela Cedeno, was positive about the nomination and wrote, “Brittany always goes above and beyond. She never turns down an opportunity to help benefit the lab or our patients. The point-of-care coordinator position ensures that the clinics are providing high-quality care for lab testing. She is very deserving of this honor.”

Brittany was pleased with the honor and concluded, “I really like working at SJMH because of my coworkers, I love working in a small hospital where I don’t always do the same thing everyday. In the Lab I get to work in multiple departments with different machines, and I get to not only work in the back running tests but also work up front interacting with patients. Working with my coworkers is a true joy. All of the staff I encounter, especially the ladies in the lab, make our days fun, filled with laughter and feeling like family.”

She will receive a $100 check, a reception and an extra day of paid vacation. Her picture will be displayed on the ground floor bulletin board and an article will be published in area newspapers. She is now eligible for Employee of the Year for 2020.
