The community is invited to the grand unveiling of the new Born Learning Trail along the Buckhannon River Walk, an initiative by United Way of Gilmer, Lewis and Upshur Counties. This educational trail is designed to engage young children and their families in interactive learning experiences. It stretches from the Wood Street parking lot to the Camden Avenue parking lot.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 26, at noon. Attendees can participate in a book giveaway and a drawing where four young children will have a chance to win bikes and helmets. The drawing for two 14-inch girls’ bikes and two 16-inch boys’ bikes will take place at 1 p.m.

The Born Learning Trail consists of nine instructional signs along the path. Each sign offers a unique activity aimed at fostering learning and interaction between children and adults. For example, one sign encourages kids to identify and think of words starting with letters they see on the ground. Another sign prompts parents to ask children about their observations and engage in discussions based on those observations.
