Elwanda Jean (Haddix) Long, 90, of Gaines, WV, died February 23, 2026, at home surrounded by loved ones. She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, reading, and time with family and friends.
Deborah Ann Kittle, 80, of Buckhannon, died February 24, 2026, at her home. She was a longtime realtor, active CEOS volunteer, and cherished her family, friends, and the Upshur County community.
A judge granted the City of Buckhannon entry to two Wood Street parcels needed for a new water treatment plant on Wednesday, ruling the condemnation serves a legitimate public use. The city has valued the property at $802,500, but a legal process will determine the final value.
