WEST UNION – The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School cross-country teams ran in their largest meet team-wise of the year Tuesday evening in the Doddridge County Invitational.

The Little Lady Bucs ran against 19 other full teams and finished an impressive second with 151 points.

South Middle won the team title with 63 points.

What makes the Little Lady Bucs’ placement impressive is that they didn’t place a runner in the top 25 but had enough high finishes for the runner-up honors.

The top runner for the Little Lady Bucs was Lena Rose Walker placing 27^th with a time of 15:49.90.

The rest of the B-UMS line-up was Gwendolyn Rogosky in 28^th (15:50.38), Madison Knabenshue in 35^th (16:17.36), Chloe Lewis in 36^th (16:17.66), Isabella Bowers in 40^th (16:30.92), Mya Loudin in 84^th (17:46.91), and Makenna Marsh in 108^th (18:46.41.)

The race featured 155 runners and was won by Leyland Phillips of South Middle with a time of 13:57.41.

For the Little Bucs, they finished 19^th out of 23 teams with 525 points.

Taylor County won the team title with 78 points.

The top B-UMS runner was Kenton Stump placing 64^th with a time of 14:39.24.

The rest of the Little Buc line-up was Lucas Fortney in 107^th (16:20.42), Kylan Hedrick in 127^th (17:01.77), Mitchell Whitley in 131^st (17:18.49), Graydon Malcolm in 134^th (17:28.30) and Rease Zirkle in 143^rd (17:59.32).

In the race, featuring 172 runners, Micah Gainer of St. Francis Central came out on top with a time of 12:00.84.

Both teams will wrap up their season on Saturday at Robert C. Byrd.
