Buckhannon-Upshur High School’s homecoming week is here, with a parade, coronation, football game and dance planned over the next few days. The parade begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, with participants lining up at 5 p.m. on Sedgwick Street.
The parade is scheduled to end at 7 p.m., followed by coronation at 7:30 p.m. at the West Virginia Wesleyan College chapel, according to a release from the B-UHS Student Council.

The parade route has changed, B-UHS Student Council Advisor Ty Landis said in an October 12 email. College Avenue is the only vehicle entrance to the Sedgwick Street lineup, the accompanying route instructions state. For those joining on foot, the instructions list Lightburn Street and Latham Avenue as drop-off points.
“All community is invited to attend these events, and please know that it is supposed to be rainy, so umbrellas are encouraged! As of right now, we are not modifying when the events will be,” Landis said in the email.
The Buccaneers host East Fairmont for the homecoming football game at 7 p.m. Friday, October 16. The homecoming court will be recognized at halftime.
B-U enters the game at 2-4 after a 20-0 win over Lewis County last Friday. East Fairmont’s Bees are 1-6 following a 28-7 loss to Lincoln County.
The high school hosts the “Greek Garden” homecoming dance from 7 to 10 p.m. October 17.
