BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – After five seasons as the head coach of the West Virginia Wesleyan women’s basketball team, Vicky Bullett has announced that she will be departing the program.
The decision is due to Bullett’s desire to spend more time at home in Martinsburg, W.Va., with her husband Thomas and family.
Bullett recently guided the Bobcats to a Mountain East Conference opening round victory at West Virginia State. The former All-American at Maryland and WNBA No. 1 draft pick played six seasons in the WNBA. Bullett is a member of the Maryland Athletic Hall of Fame and Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. She helped Team USA to a gold medal in 1988.
“It’s been an honor to have someone of Vicky Bullett’s caliber in our Athletic Department,” WVWC Director of Athletics Randy Tenney said. “Her accomplishments within the game of basketball are truly amazing. Coach Bullett displayed great leadership and is a tremendous role model to student-athletes. We wish her the absolute best in her future endeavors.”
Bullett will remain in her current position until May 30. A search to hire the next head coach of WVWC women’s basketball will begin immediately.
