Pauline Allen Smith

Pauline Allen Smith, 58, of Ellis Creek Road, French Creek, died Monday, November 16, 2020, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. 

She was born on July 24, 1962, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Edward Junior “Hoot” and Beatrice Marie Hamner Allen. 

On August 29, 1979, she was united in marriage to Edward Wesley “Eddie” Smith, who preceded her in death on June 22, 2016.  In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter Carrie Dawn Smith; one sister Doris Ann Allen; three brothers:  Billy Lee, Earl Junior, and Donnie Wayne Allen; and her father- and mother-in-law:  Charles W. “Buster” and Iris Smith. 

She is survived by five sons:  Eddie Smith and wife Rachelle of Buckhannon, Charlie Smith and wife Nicky of French Creek, Joey Smith of French Creek, Sam Smith and wife Sierra Edwards of French Creek, and William Smith of Ellamore; four daughters:  Rosetta and husband RJ Alderman, Rebecca and husband Billy Gillum, Mary Smith, and Sherri Smith, all of French Creek; a special grandson Lucas (Luke) Smith along with fifteen other grandchildren: Tatum Riley Smith and Dalton Smith of Buckhannon, Chase Smith, Hunter and Kendra Alderman of French Creek, Nathan and Wesley Smith of French Creek, Harlee, Noah, and Abby Gillum of French Creek, Breanna Wells Smith of Buckhannon, Walker and Austin Smith of Buckhannon, and Mia Jo Smith and Samuel M. Smith, Jr. of Elkins; four brothers:  Richard Allen and wife Vicki of Alum Bridge, Dave Allen of Weston, Charles Allen and wife Michelle of Weston, and Herbert Allen and wife Carolyn of Alum Bridge; four sisters:  Helen Tomaro of Weston, Carylon and husband Bill Lamb of Jane Lew, Mildred Hinkle of Jane Lew, and Pauline’s twin sister Charlene Wiant of Weston; one brother-in-law Eugene Smith of Buckhannon; and five sisters-in-law:  Dinah Allen of Cleveland, Ohio, Dorothy Allen of Jane Lew, Kathern and husband David Burkhammer of Volga, Gladys and husband John Riley of Crawford, and Hilda and husband James Bailey of Rock Cave; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pauline loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren.  She attended the Tom Anderson Mission Center and loved gospel music.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, from 4-8 p.m., at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at 11 a.m., at the Lanham Cemetery with Pastor Michael Shaw officiating.
