Buck firearms season CWD sampling stations cancelled

ROMNEY, W.VA. — Due to concerns regarding potential transmission of COVID-19 virus to hunters and West Virginia Division of Natural Resources staff, chronic wasting disease sampling stations scheduled for Hardy County during the first two days of this year’s buck season have been cancelled.

Hunters who still would like to have their deer tested should arrange to bring their deer, or the head of the carcass with the upper part of the neck attached, to the WVDNR District 2 office at 1 Depot Street in Romney, located on the north end of town off Route 28. This service is available during any deer season. Hunters should call the office at 304-822-3551 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to make sure WVDNR staff will be available.
