West Virginia Wesleyan Women’s Golf has been selected third in the 2018 MEC Golf Poll. Notre Dame College has been selected as the preseason favorite to win the Mountain East Conference women’s golf championship.

The Falcons, who won their second MEC women’s golf title last year, return a pair of All-MEC honorees from last season in Alexandra Cardi (first team) and Macie Hysell (second team). Cardi was also named Co-Freshman of the Year last year. NDC was atop the poll with 70 points and six first-place votes. Notre Dame will be under the direction of Ann Ciavarella who is in her first full season at the helm.

The University of Charleston was second in the poll with 65 points and three first-place votes. The Golden Eagles bring back three players who earned All-MEC honors last season, led by second team selections Sarah Feizel and Alyssa Wrozier.

West Virginia Wesleyan was third in the poll with 57 points. Kylie Day finished eighth at last year’s championship and earned second team honors along with Becca Davis. Beverly Toothman earned All-MEC honorable mention honors during her freshman season last year for the Bobcats.

Wheeling Jesuit, winners of the women’s golf titles in 2013 and 2015, was picked fourth with 53 points. UVa-Wise, led by last year’s Player of the Year Katie Pritchett, was fifth with 42 points, followed by Fairmont State with 38. The Fighting Falcons will be led by Sydney Brill, who shared the Freshman of the Year honors with NDC’s Cardi.

Concord was seventh with 29 points, followed by Urbana (22) and West Liberty (17).
