BUCKHANNON – A Buckhannon woman was transported to the hospital with possible injuries following a one-vehicle wreck likely caused by slippery road conditions that occurred by the Fred. W. Eberle Technical Center Tuesday morning.
Lindsay Goodwin, 28, was dropping her brother off at the trade school when she lost control of her 2010 Hyundai Sonata and went over the hill, hitting two trees, according to the accident report filed by Lt. Doug Loudin of the Buckhannon Police Department.
Goodwin had been driving on Morton Avenue beside the Dollar Tree and Breckenridge toward Route 20 when her vehicle began to slide and she wasn’t able to regain control and it veered off the roadway, striking two trees.
Goodwin was transported by Upshur EMS to St. Joseph’s Hospital with possible injuries. The Sonata sustained disabling damage. Loudin noted the road surface was a contributing factor in the accident.
As snow piled up Tuesday morning, a slew of weather-related wrecks – most of them minor – happened throughout Upshur County.
Capt. Brian Elmore with the Buckhannon Fire Department said city firefighters had responded to about 10 road conditions-related motor vehicle accidents by about noon Tuesday.
“So far, there have been very few injuries, and if there were injuries, they were relatively minor,” Elmore said.
