BUCKHANNON – Attention, gamers: Jesterline on Main Street is officially open.
Located at 46 E. Main St., Jesterline is a high-end gaming center where people of all ages can come and enjoy the constantly progressing world of gaming.
The center opened its doors Thursday, said co-owner Lacy Ramsey, who operates Jesterline in conjunction with her husband Jarod.
Ramsey said they had a soft opening, but they hope to have additional events planned in the future.
“We had a more low-key opening this time to try and help the community get more familiar with us and get started, but we are excited to get community input about future events and provide them with a great experience,” Ramsey said Friday.
The hours for Jesterline will be Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight. Jesterline will be closed Sundays.
The gaming hub currently has four PlayStation 4s, four Nintendo Switches, 20 gaming PCs, six virtual reality stations and three Lumo interactive stations. Ramsey said when customers come in, they will go to the counter and purchase time for any of the consoles or PCs and then be able to select any of the games available on the devices.
“The cool thing is, if you purchase so many hours, and you don’t end up using all of them when you log out, it will save to your profile so you can use it later,” Ramsey said.
The time for the consoles and PCs can be purchased by the hour, and the VR (virtual reality) stations can be bought in blocks of 15 or 30 minutes.
“We structured it like that because not everybody’s used to that experience,” Ramsey said of the VR stations. “We have smaller chunks in case they don’t like it as much as they’d hoped, that way they’re not wasting a whole hour.”
Ramsey said the only station customers won’t be charged for using is the Lumo station, which is geared more toward children.
“If they come in with a family and they have older siblings, and they’re not old enough to do the other stuff, we want to have a place where they can be entertained and have fun too,” Ramsey said. “It just requires body movement, there’s no controllers, there’s no hardware, and there is nothing they can break.”
Once using one of the PCs, a person can either use a guest profile where they would start the game from the beginning and be unable to save their progress or log in with a personal account and pick up where they left off (and save their progress via a profile).
Ramsey said people will be allowed to log in to PlayStation accounts as well, but they need to remember to log out before leaving.
Some of the games available are Injustice, Rocket League, Call of Duty WWII and Fortnite on the PlayStation 4s. Some of the games available on the Switches include Super Smash Brother Ultimate, Mario Kart as well as some old school Nintendo games.
On PCs, Jesterline has Fortnite, Apex Legends, Overwatch, Minecraft, League of Legends and more.
“We want feedback from people,” Ramsey said. “If there is a good game that you want us to include, we want to know that so we can work on getting it.”
