West Virginia history teachers will receive Mountain Moves, a new board game for eighth-graders, in the coming months, according to an October 5 release from the governor’s office.

The game debuted Monday at Oak Hill Middle School with Governor Patrick Morrisey and Secretary of Tourism Kayla Kessinger. Morrisey gave copies to three history teachers there.

Two to six people can play. Modeled on the Game of Life, it gives each player a tourism-related career. To move forward, players answer trivia about West Virginia history and tourism.

“Mountain Moves gives students an opportunity to learn about West Virginia while seeing themselves as part of the future of our tourism industry,” Kessinger said in the release.

Morrisey also highlighted Tourism Works, a credential program for tourism and hospitality careers. My Buckhannon reported in August that participants had earned more than 25,000 microcredentials.
