WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital and Rotary Club to host fall community blood screenings

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Rotary Club of Buckhannon Upshur will once again partner to offer a series of affordable community blood screenings this fall, providing residents with an easy way to monitor important health indicators.

The screenings will be offered by appointment only at two locations:

  • St. Joseph’s Hospital, Buckhannon: Oct. 10, 17, 24 and 31
  • Community Care of Rock Cave, Rock Cave: Nov. 7

The basic blood profile screening costs $35 and includes several key tests commonly used to assess overall health. Additional optional tests will also be available for an added fee, including thyroid screening (TSH), colon cancer screening, hemoglobin A1C for diabetes, PSA prostate cancer screening for men, hepatitis C antibody testing and vitamin D testing.

“Rotary of Buckhannon Upshur is proud to continue our partnership with WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital to provide our community with annual blood screenings. This partnership reflects what Rotary is all about—bringing organizations together to promote health, prevention, and a stronger community,” said Deb Harrison, Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur president. “By making these screenings available, St. Joseph’s and Rotary are helping individuals become more aware of their health and encouraging early detection and proactive care. We are grateful to WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital for their continued partnership and commitment to the health and well-being of our community.”

Participants are asked to fast for 12 hours prior to their screening. Payment is accepted by cash or personal check, and test results will be available through MyWVUChart or mailed directly to participants’ homes.

Appointments are required, and walk-ins will not be accepted. Community members may schedule their screening appointment online at RotaryBloodScreening.as.me.

The annual blood screening initiative is part of Rotary’s commitment to promoting health and wellness in the community. By partnering with St. Joseph’s Hospital, Rotary helps make preventative health services accessible and affordable for residents throughout Upshur County and the surrounding region.
