WESTON, W.Va. — Vandalia Health Mon Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital has recognized Amanda Ball, RN, Acute Care, as the latest recipient of The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, honoring nurses for the compassionate and skillful care they provide to patients and families every day.
Ball was nominated by a patient who praised her compassionate care, attentive bedside manner and unwavering commitment to making patients feel heard, supported and comfortable throughout their hospital stay.
“My nurse, Amanda, continually visited with me and asked if I needed anything,” the nomination stated. “She always provided very personable and compassionate care. Her tone of voice provided comfort and was so calming. I felt like I was being cared for by my own family.”
The DAISY Award recognizes nurses who consistently demonstrate excellence through clinical expertise, compassionate care and a commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients, families and fellow caregivers.
“Amanda’s compassionate approach and dedication to providing exceptional patient care embody the values we strive to uphold every day,” said Lisa Songer, chief administrative officer of Vandalia Health Mon Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. “She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure patients feel cared for, heard and supported. We are proud to recognize Amanda with this well-deserved honor.”
The DAISY Award was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 from complications of an autoimmune disease. During his hospitalization, his family was deeply touched by the extraordinary compassion and clinical skill demonstrated by his nurses. They created The DAISY Foundation as a lasting way to recognize nurses who make a profound difference in the lives of patients and families.
