Severe weather alert
The City of Buckhannon continues to experience rapidly changing winter weather conditions. To assist in keeping our community safe, here are some actions residents can take:
- Clear sidewalks and walkways as conditions allow and use salt or traction agents to reduce refreezing.
- Avoid parking along plow routes when possible; use off-street parking so plow trucks have room to operate safely.
- Do not push or blow snow into the street, as it creates hazards and slows down cleanup efforts.
- Keep storm drains clear of slush, leaves and ice to help prevent localized flooding during rain-on-snow events.
- Check on neighbors who may need assistance with snow removal or safe access.
