Snowshoe Mountain has postponed its opening day for skiing and snowboarding to Friday, December 5, weather permitting, according to a Facebook post by the resort.
The resort had originally planned to open for Thanksgiving. Limited snowmaking opportunities despite some cold weather in November led to the decision to delay. The next several days are expected to remain fairly mild.
“As much as we would have loved to be making some turns this Thanksgiving, we know the Cheat Mountain Magic runs on its own schedule,” the post said. “Some of the snowiest winters we’ve ever had started off a little late. The forecast looks promising for a colder pattern to arrive late next week, and our snowmaking team will be ready to hit the ground running.”
The resort will still offer Thanksgiving activities on the mountain, including shopping, dining, adventure activities like sporting clays and off-road tours, and holiday fun for families.
Flex 3 Passes are nearly sold out for the 2025/26 season. The passes allow three flexible days of skiing and riding for $249.
