VICKSBURG – A 4-year-old child was transported to the hospital with possible injuries following a two-vehicle wreck near Vicksburg Food Mart Friday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Investigating officers Trooper J.S. Tonkin and Cpl. V.J. Pyles with the Buckhannon detachment of the West Virginia State Police said the collision happened when a 17-year-old juvenile driving a Jeep Wrangler sideswiped a Honda Odyssey, being driven by Lisa Butler, 52, of Buckhannon.
A 4-year-old passenger in the Odyssey was taken by Upshur EMS to WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital for evaluation, but the officers said they weren’t sure how serious the nature of the injuries were.
The front of the Jeep Wrangler, which was headed toward Buckhannon, struck the side of the Odyssey, headed in the opposite direction.

Tonkin said Butler, the driver of the Odyssey, said she planned on driving herself to the hospital for evaluation.
Although no one was cited, Tonkins said rain and the Wrangler driving too fast for weather conditions may have contributed to the wreck.
In addition to WVSP and Upshur EMS, the Buckhannon Fire Department also responded.
