Vandalia Health Davis Medical Center will host a new support group to educate and empower community members with diabetes, pre-diabetes and their caregivers. The group’s first meeting will be at Noon, April 3, in the Davis Medical Center boardroom.

The free event is open to all individuals seeking guidance on managing Type 2 and Type 1 diabetes and prediabetes as well as family members and caregivers who want to learn more about providing support.

“We understand that living with diabetes can be challenging, so we want to provide the resources and support our community members need to live healthier, fuller lives,” said Jim Severino, Dietician and Certified Diabetes Educator for Davis Medical Center. “This group will not only provide access to useful information but also create a community of individuals who can support and motivate each other along their health journeys.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of educational resources provided by Davis Medical Center health care experts, including diabetes-friendly recipes and practical ideas for meal planning, making it easier for individuals to enjoy food that is both satisfying and helpful for diabetes management. Participants will have the chance to ask questions, share experiences and learn from both health care professionals and their peers.

The April 3 meeting is the first in a planned series of sessions, with each gathering focusing on a specific aspect of diabetes management, from nutrition and exercise to medication and mental health.
