WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital to host West Virginia Junior Nursing Academy for rising 11th and 12th graders

WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital will host a free Junior Nursing Academy in July for rising 11th and 12th graders, offering hands-on healthcare experiences and exposure to various hospital careers, with applications due by June 9.

WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital is excited to announce that it will once again host the West Virginia Junior Nursing Academy for rising 11th and 12th grade students, including those who are homeschooled.

This unique educational opportunity will take place over two sessions: July 16-18 and July 28-30. The program is designed to give students a firsthand experience of the healthcare field, offering valuable insights into various medical careers and hospital departments.

Throughout the Academy, students will participate in hands-on activities such as first aid training, respiratory therapy, physical, occupational and speech therapy, as well as lessons in CPR. Additionally, students will tour various hospital departments and shadow healthcare professionals, gaining a deeper understanding of the medical field and the day-to-day operations of a hospital.

There is no cost to attend the Academy, and meals and scrubs will be provided to all participants.
