WVU Heart and Vascular Institute named to Becker’s 100 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Heart Programs

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The WVU Heart and Vascular Institute has been named to the 2024 Becker’s Hospital Review “100 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Heart Programs.”

According to Becker’s, “the hospitals, health systems, and institutes featured on this list are renowned for their superior heart and vascular care. The list celebrates programs that deliver high-quality outcomes, build skilled teams of expert caregivers, and make key research discoveries in heart care.”

The experienced board-certified, fellowship-trained providers at the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute are contributing practice-changing research and performing groundbreaking and innovative procedures using cutting-edge techniques and technology not available anywhere else in the state.

In several situations, their novel innovations are being taught globally. As an academic health institution and a National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded center, the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute brings access to the latest in clinical trials equally to both the urban, and most importantly, rural populations of the state and region.

When it comes to patient care, the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute offers a highly personalized experience in addition to its advanced approach, which is why patients and physicians from across the state, surrounding regions, and from several countries come to Morgantown for its expertise.

To compile this list, the Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team assessed rankings and awards from reputable organizations such as U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, The Leapfrog Group, and more. The list is designed to celebrate hospitals and health systems that are leaders in the heart care space.

“It remains my honor and privilege to be associated with the many thoughtful nation-leading experts that represent the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute,” Vinay Badhwar, M.D., executive chair of the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute, said.

“Together, along with the steadfast support of WVU Medicine, these physician leaders and their teams bring a new meaning to mission-driven healthcare. Be it through personalized patient-level cardiovascular and thoracic care, the development and introduction of innovative therapies, or groundbreaking practice-changing research, the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute is purposefully impacting the evolution of heart care nationally.”

The full list features individual profiles of all hospitals and health systems on the list and can be read here. It is not exhaustive, nor is it an endorsement of included hospitals, health systems, or associated healthcare providers. Organizations cannot pay for inclusion on this list. Hospitals and health systems are presented in alphabetical order.
