Burton Wayne “Cub Bear” Claypool, Jr.

Burton Wayne “Cub Bear” Claypool, Jr., age 31, of Buckhannon, WV, died Sunday, February 25, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born November 6, 1992, in Buckhannon, a son of Burton Wayne Claypool and Kellie Jo Harris Claypool, both of Buckhannon. In addition to his parents, “Cub Bear” is survived by his children, Robert Wayne Claypool of Buckhannon and Seana Faith Claypool of Beverly, WV; step-father, Russell Claypool of Buckhannon; two brothers, Robert Allen Harris of WV and Damien Lee Claypool of Hodgesville, WV; three sisters, Shasta Dawn Kelley of Buckhannon, Mary Elizabeth Claypool and Carl Goff of Weston, WV and Mishka Marie Claypool of Hodgesville; maternal grandmother, Mary Horgan of PA and several, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert Harris, and paternal grandparents, Jean and Roscoe Claypool. “Cub Bear” loved riding 4-wheelers and dirt bikes.

He never met a stranger and talked to anyone and everyone especially when he went to Wal-Mart.

Friends will be received Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 3 PM to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Church Cemetery in Hodgesville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
